VIS lays a huge emphasis on enhancing teacher’s skills through continuous professional development courses. We believe teachers, like students, are life long learners and conscious of the positive impact teachers can have on in the physical, social, emotional and cognitive domains of student learning. Through the course of the Academic Year, all teachers participate in the specially-designed Professional Development Programme, offered at all our facilities. Additionally, teachers participate in the various Professional Development programmes offered by CBSE.
As a growing group of teachers, we keep busy each day, facilitating students, planning, grading, communicating with parents, completing reports and building learning resources. Each week, though, we find time to meet in small groups or as one large group to discuss pedagogical issues, take turns to direct sessions on learning and continue to grow our understanding of what it takes to be an excellent teacher. While learning happens at these weekly sessions, interactions in hallways, over lunch, at team meetings, in the computer lab exploring new software and even on field trips reinforce what we have learned. At VIS, teachers are part of a vibrant, curious, growing professional learning community!
Our teachers aim to provide Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Syntheses, Evaluation and Creation. Innovative methods are encouraged and followed for effective relationships between teaching and learning to help imbibe the different perspectives within each subject area.
The students become participants in learning (not just merely securing a body of knowledge) so that their learning becomes linked to their life outside the school. The teachers view each child as a unique individual and thus seek to understand and love each one.
They take seriously their responsibility to teach, encourage and when needed admonish. The faculty team is facilitated to upgrade their skills and knowledge on a continual basis.
